The New Apple iPhone 16 is Coming to Australia on or about September 20, 2024.

Get ready, Apple enthusiasts! Apple has officially announced the launch date for the new iPhone 16. The much-anticipated product launch event is set for September 10, 2024, at 3 am AEST, and will take place in California. This will dictate the dates available on the new amazing iPhone 16.

Apple is shaking things up this year by moving its traditional early Wednesday morning launch to a Tuesday instead. The event’s theme, “It’s Glowtime,” hints at exciting new features, including a revamped Siri interface (thank goodness) that will debut on Apple’s latest devices.

What’s Expected at the Apple Event on September 10?

While Apple’s invitation design offers little to no clues about the iPhone 16’s colours (the palette is quite a mix, to be honest, but we supply cases with all phones so not to worry), the anticipation is high for the new lineup of devices. We’re expecting Apple to unveil:

  • iPhone 16
  • iPhone 16 Plus
  • iPhone 16 Pro
  • iPhone 16 Pro Max

Alongside the new iPhones, Apple is likely to announce the Apple Watch 10 and new versions of its AirPods.

This year’s iPhone launch comes amid stiff competition. Samsung’s Galaxy S24 series and Google’s Pixel 9 lineup have already set high standards. After reporting slower sales in phones and wearables earlier this year, Apple is under pressure to deliver big. The growing focus on Artificial Intelligence adds another layer of competition, and Apple is expected to show how it’s staying ahead.

New AI Features: Apple Intelligence

Back in June, Apple introduced a range of generative AI features for the iPhone at its Worldwide Developers Conference. Dubbed “Apple Intelligence,” these new tools include personalised Genmoji (Apple’s AI-crafted emojis) and a smarter Siri that can now provide detailed answers about your schedule and more.

We expect the iPhone 16 to fully harness the power of Apple Intelligence, with some of these features potentially available on the iPhone 15 Pro models as well.

When Can You Get Your Hands on the iPhone 16?

Initially, it was speculated that the iPhone 16 pre-orders would start on Friday, September 13. However, a recent rumour from the German blog Macerkopf suggests Apple might move up the pre-order date by a day. Someone at Apple is superstitious?

The official sale is expected to begin a week later, around September 19 or 20. Check out our Phones Page to confirm availability.

Is it worth waiting for the iPhone 16? Well, you be the judge. iPhone 14 and iPhone 15 have been hugely popular and many people are electing go ‘Pro’ on 14 and 15 models that deliver more bang for your buck. The benefit of R4K for your new iPhone is we have No Deposit, Fast Delivery and you pay weekly (or fortnightly), so you can choose the iPhone 16 now.

iPhone 16 Rumours and Features

With the launch just around the corner, the rumour mill is buzzing. Here’s what we know so far about the iPhone 16:

  1. Bigger Screens: The Pro models are expected to feature slightly larger screens with a new aspect ratio.
  2. New Capture Button: Apple analyst Mark Gurman reports that all four models will include a new capture button. This feature will allow users to swipe to zoom and press to activate autofocus when taking photos and videos.
  3. Thinner Bezels: The iPhone 16 Pro models might boast even thinner bezels, outdoing competitors like the Samsung Galaxy S24.
  4. Design Changes: Sources suggest the rear camera on the iPhone 16 (and possibly the iPhone 16 Plus) will have a vertical alignment. An Action button is also anticipated.
  5. Enhanced Camera Technology: According to MacRumours, the iPhone 16 Pro models will feature an upgraded 48-megapixel ultra-wide lens, improving image quality, particularly in low light. Both Pro models are also expected to have 5x telephoto lenses. This might be the final goodbye to the SLR camera?
  6. New Colour Options: Word on the street is that Apple is replacing the Blue Titanium colour with a new shade called “Desert Titanium,” described as a dark gold. The lineup is likely to include white, black, gold, and grey.
  7. How much is the iPhone 16? Despite the new features, it seems Apple plans to keep the starting prices consistent with last year’s models. Let’s hope this rumour is true!
